While walls have been part of Age of Empires from the beginning, AoE 4’s stone walls are superior to previous versions. In each match, the addition of your city’s longevity is that defenses in this game are much stronger than they’ve been in the series before.

Because structures could be used as makeshift walls around a base in AoE 2, buildings were encouraged to form distinct city designs.
